With March upon us and the realisation that winter is just around the corner, now is the time to get on with those quilts so they can keep us warm over those cooler months.
It is with great sadness that we have had to say goodbye to Karen Nitschke who has recently left us after working at the Studio for the last 3 ½ years. She will be missed and we wish her all the very best with her new venture.
This week has seen a huge influx of new fabrics. Amongst these is Valori Wells latest flannel range, Della Flannel. In addition to the collection, we now have a new line of micro-fiber fleece in matching designs and colours. This is so soft and would make wonderful backing for flannel quilts or just use it by itself for a throw.
On our recent visit to Houston we meet so many cool fabric designers. One of our favourites was Heather Bailey. Her latest range “Nicey Jane” has also just arrived and is a collection of nostalgic florals and modern geometrics in fabulous colours. Ideal for a more contemporary style of quilt and would also make wonderful clothing both for women and children.
Have you checked out our blog yet at donnasquiltstudio.wordpress.com. This is a great way for us to keep you in touch with our daily goings on as there always seem to be something going on whether it be new products and fabrics coming in or new shop samples being made up. On the blog page there is a facility to write us a comment or subscribe to the blog. We are looking at offering bloggers competitions so do keep a look out at what is going on.
We still have a few vacancies in our new block of the month programme. “Piece, Love and Applique” includes pieced blocks and whimsical appliqué which come together to create this fabulous quilt. Finished size is 62” x 82”. This is a twelve month Block of the Month, first month costs $90 + P&P, with the next eleven months at $30 + P&P per month. This is an optional extra of 6 reels matching Robison Anton Rayon Threads for $65.00.
We are now taking enrolments for Term 2 Your Own Thing" classes, if you haven't booked don't leave it too long as last term we had no vacancies in the evening classes.. These classes are always popular as I am able to take all levels of quilters from beginners through to advanced.
